For the Coveted King Fionn Trophy
This is the first major Irish Strongman Title of 2012 in the North of
Ireland. Competitors from all over the province will be battling for the
coveted Culcullen Warrior Prince Trophy and be crowned Ulster Strongest
Man 2012.
the added bonus to this show is the top 6 will
qualify for this years televised Ireland Strongest Man, that then leads
to qualification for the televised UK Strongest Man.
This is where it all starts for our pro-strongmen.
Events Planned:
1. Earth Mover - Tyre Super Yoke
This will be a two laned event when a huge
850lbs structure being carried on each competitors shoulder over a set
course of 20 metres. A Jurassic earth stumping event to start of the
competition. Fastest time or distance taken wins.
2. The Car Deadlift Hold
This will be a head to head event involving two 1 tonne cars which
will be lifted and held of the floor with straps for as long as
possible. This not only involves strength but pure guts to fight through
the pain as the 1 tonne pressure bears down on the body.
3. St Patricks Trail Carry
A huge Celtic Cross weighing in excess of 200kg will be picked up in
the arms of the competitor and carried for a far as possible up a 20
metre set course. A real lung busting event were not only strength but
fitness is the key.
4. The Finn McCool Giant Fishing Pole
This is a maximum deadlift event were are famous Giant Finn McCools
fishing pole will have increasing weights added to the end of the pole
to simulate the Jurassic fish being landed, with our dinosaur fish being
hungrily dangled on the end of the pole. A great maximum test and a
great event.
5. Beaghmore Atlas Stone Lift
Five stones weighing from 85kg to a massive 145kg will be lifted
onto a wall of varied heights. This will be the toughest of all the
strength events. Stone lifting is the oldest strength test known to
strongman, an overall body challenge.
6. New Event - The Culcullen Warrior Prince
Push & Pull Medley
This will be a 2 laned event to fight for the title, competitors
will kick off by lifting and pressing a huge 64kg Thomas Inch Dumbell
above their heads. Competitors will then move on to a 200kg power stairs
block that must be pulled onto an 18 inch platform. Competitors will
then move on to a 130kg axle press and then they will pull a second
power stairs block weighing 225kg on to an 18 inch platform. Then
finally competitors will press a mighty 140kg log above their heads and
pull a 250kg (quarter of a tonne) block onto the final 18 inch platform.
This is the finale event of 6 gruelling events and it
will test every sinew of the competitors body, only the strong will
survive and the weak will falter. The strongest will be crowned Republic
of Ireland Strongest Man 2012 and receive the coveted King Fionn Trophy.
