The Highland Games events are broken down in to feats of endurance, strength and agility:

The events planned are:
1. The Stone Putt - a 24lb stone that must be putted in the shot putt fashion for distance

2. The 42lb weight for Height - This is an old traditional ploughing
weight that is thrown over the bar, highest height wins

3. The 28lb Weight for Distance - This is the old and chain event,
similar to the olympic hammer only it has a shorter chain and is thrown with one hand, furtherest distance wins.

4. The Sheaf Toss - One of the oldest of farming traditions with a sack
full of wet grass weighing 24lb is tossed over the bar using a pitchfork, highest height  ....wins.

5. The 16lb Hammer for Distance - This is one of the most technical of all the events,  unlike the olympic hammer competitors are fixed to the floor using spikes in hognail boots, spinning a wooden shaft around their head and release the hammer, furtherest distance wins.  One of the most exciting events to watch as some competitors can through over 100 feet.

6. The final event is the most famous of them all, the Caber Toss
This is a tapered tree trunk, normally a 20 foot plus in length.

Competitors not must toss this massive tree trunk but they must make a perfect toss of 12 o'clock to gain maximum points, closest to that wins.

We also are running a Novice Highland Games Competition alongside this for all new comers.
