GREEN HUNTER FINAL & QUALIFER RULES

AIMS: The prerequisite for this class is to access the jumping ability, conformation, movement and temperament of 4-year-old ponies in their first year of showing over fences.

OPEN TO:  4-year-old registered Connemara ponies. Riders over 14yrs on 1st of January 2026.  Ponies must be registered in the current owner’s name. Microchips will be checked at qualifiers, ensure you bring the pony’s passport.
A maximum of 3 ponies may qualify at each qualifier.  There must be no change of rider at the final i.e. it must be the same combination that qualifies. Judge’s decision is the final.
The qualifiers and the final will be run primarily under the Irish Pony Society rules for Working Hunter Classes using the same scoring system.
JUMPING PHASE ONE:  Ponies will be required to jump a course of 8 fences which includes a double, over a maximum height of 80cm. The course may be inspected mounted.
No animals are allowed to practice over any part of the course before the commencement of the class, as this will lead to immediate elimination.
Combinations that incur more than -20 penalties (e.g. one knock -10, one refusal -15) penalties will now proceed to Phase Two. Only clear rounds and combinations incurring -20 penalties or less will progress to the Ridden Phase.
RIDE AND CONFORMATION PHASE TWO: Combinations that successfully complete the jumping phase will be invited to complete Phase 2. The ponies will walk, trot and canter as a group, then line up. The judge will then ride each pony at a walk, trot, canter and at the judge’s discretion an extended canter.
The pony will be then stripped and shown in hand.  Disregard for this rule will lead to elimination
